kiosk software in action A multimedia kiosk with a large touch-sensitive screen can be the information center of a museum, art gallery, hotel or exhibition. Thanks to extensive custom configurations, such a system can also be used as a terminal in Internet cafés, an Intranet access point for companies, a videogame center or an audio-video jukebox.

The base unit, with its striking design, does not go unnoticed: the standard configuration includes a 17 or 19-inch touch-sensitive screen (1280 x 1024 pixels) provided with special protection against dust, fluids and fingerprints. The sleek body of the kiosk consists of a thin arc of scratch-resistant anodized eloxal aluminum only 4.7 cm thick, with chrome side covers. The computer supplied is an Apple Mac Mini, that automatically switches itself on and off on the days and times of your choice, and is set in a burglar-proof box at the bottom of the kiosk. Despite its slim design, the hardware of the interactive kiosk is easily adapted to different uses.

Among the installable options are: built-in keyboard with optional trackpad or anti-vandal trackball, DVD player, UPS, analogue, ISDN or ADSL modem, WiFi wireless networking, Bluetooth interface, POS printer, hi-fi stereo speakers, microphone, proximity sensor, camera, analogue or digital TV inputs, anti-vandal phone, custom logo, choice of RAL paint colour. A smaller kiosk version for children is available too.

Cartabianca also provides the technical support needed to create the content to be displayed on the interactive kiosk. For instance, one of our kiosks includes a presentation software with bilingual audio and text, photographs, video footage, special 360 degree movies of panoramas and objects (manipulated by running a finger across the screen) and a short educational game for kids.

But to create images aimed at enhancing your business, you need professionals who grasp at a glance the essence of what is needed to adjust a photographic image. Relying on Cartabianca, you can count on highly experienced professional photographers who take perfect pictures of any subject, and are also able to create special immersive 360 degree movies of both panoramas and objects. Thanks to these special movies, accessible either on the Web, CDs or DVD-ROMs, you have the option of changing your view point of a scene or “manipulating” any virtual object, from the most valuable (we have worked with both Italian and foreign clients on shooting museum objects) to the largest, as in the case of our shots of cars for FIAT and Alfa Romeo.

Video

For video shootings, our staff includes video operators with professional cameras, while for less demanding tasks and low budget productions we can offer shots taken with compact high definition (HDV) cameras. Cartabianca also has an editing and video post-production facility based on Apple’s Final Cut Studio system, operated by professionals with long experience in the field. On request we can use special imaging systems, such as SteadyCam or Jimmy Jib.

Audio

As any director well knows, a good movie can be ruined by a bad soundtrack, and vice versa. What is being shown in a static or animated presentation or video, can be enhanced by enthralling background music, professional audio commentary, or subtle sound effects that highlight the user’s actions. If you are looking for a soundtrack or a short jingle for your product, rely on Cartabianca’s musicians and composers: they will quickly create your ideal song, or catchy melody. For bigger productions our company has a professional recording studio.

Of course, Cartabianca can also create audio commentary in Italian and English with professional speakers, to add to your media product or your promotional video. Last but not least, a mobile system is available for audio recording of any kind of live events.
